Australian-based National Science Agency CSIRO and advisory firm WT have collaborated to build a digital twin containing surveying data used in the development of buildings and infrastructure.
The twins are geared towards usage in the construction industry. The tools gather data from around forty-five data sets, such as those provided by CSIRO’s Terria platform, and other data sets provided at a federal level, such as from the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

Utilizing the latest BIM and imaging data, these digital twins create an interactive, immersive environment for users, enabling them to experience the development of a building from initial concept stages to full construction.
Like most digital twins on the market, these twins have the primary goals of cost reduction and optimization. Creating one-to-one virtual replicas of digital objects enables companies such as CSIRO and WT to manage projects virtually before they even go into production, helping them mitigate potential issues and improve sustainability.
Similarly, these twins also enable real-time feedback, regularly informing stakeholders for project management.
